As I said before, I have set a few “goals” for this year, including my big one of 2015 miles in 2015. Another one I wanted to try was raising money for a cause through a running event, and I am well on my way after signing up to raise money for Purple Project!
This goal is near and dear to my heart for several reasons. First and foremost, my sweet Uncle John passed away three years ago after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. He was an amazing man, and he is incredibly missed.
Cancer sucks. Really. All cancer. I wish it would go away forever, and never come back. Organizations like Project Purple, which awards grants for scientists to find a cure for cancer, are leading the way at ending this awful disease.
Every little bit helps, and I am going to give as much as I can. I will be a voice for those who can no longer speak. I will share their stories. I will use my legs to honor their memories. I be running in my Project Purple gear to show my solidarity with all those who have been affected by cancer.
How can you help?
-Share your support of my efforts with high fives, congrats, hugs, and maybe some warm coffee after my cold training runs 😉
-Make a donation. As I said above, every little bit counts. Maybe you could donate $1 per mile of the race for a total of $13.10. Or maybe you want to go big and donate 25 cents per mile for every training run for a total of approximately $66.75.
-Ask others for their support. Please share and spread of the word of my little project, if nothing else but for the reason that more people need to know just how devastating pancreatic cancer can be.
