    Swimsuits

I signed Emerson and me up for a parent-tot swim class which starts in a few weeks.  I am sooooooo beyond excited (almost annoyingly so) for her to take swim lessons.  It’s actually probably a little ridiculous that we are taking this class because I taught it not that long ago. Anyways!  Now that I will be back in the water again regularly, I am on the hunt for a new swimsuit.  My current suit is a little too snug (darn you baby weight), so I want to grab a new one.  There are so many cute styles out now that I can’t decide which one to get!  I am…

    Losing myself during maternity leave

In a recent article entitled “SAHM gets depressed,” on Scary Mommy, the author discusses her struggles with quitting her successful career to stay at home with her babies.  She says of the experience, “[i]t’s a mix between losing oneself and being in this grey mushy place.” Oh man this resonated with me so much.  Although I loved staying home with Emerson, and I miss her oh so much when I go to work, I realized quickly upon returning to work that things were different.  I was different.  I felt real, alive, and less covered in milk, which in turn made me feel better all around. 7 Months Old

Each time Emerson turns another month old, I become even more amazed with her.  She turned 7 months old on Friday, as hard as it is to believe. This month Emerson has been working on rolling over from back to front.  She loves to do it when I’m out of the room so I haven’t actually seen it yet (of course!). She has started recognizing faces, and it’s so cute to see her face light up when she sees someone she recognizes!  She loves her Sasha dog.  Emerson constantly watches her run around and loves to swat at her nose.  Sasha isn’t a huge fan of that game, but still…

Em’s first trip to the zoo

Firsts are so incredibly fun, and it seems like there are so many of them! Today we went to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo for Emerson’s first zoo trip.  It was the perfect size.  She seemed to really love looking around, and especially liked the snow leopard and the whooping gibbons.  (I love the gibbons too– they are always singing when I run by the zoo!)   Of course it didn’t take long for her to get tired and pass out, so I didn’t get a ton of pictures. We can’t wait to head back again soon! Please like & share:
