Holiday look 3: using (mostly) Elf makeup

Over Black Friday weekend, Elf cosmetics was having a 50% off sale and I couldn’t resist. I pretty much bought one of everything. I skipped the lip products because I haven’t had luck with them in the past. Elf is very hit or miss for me. But when it’s good, it’s gooooood.

Today I tried out a bunch of different and new to me items. Some were a no go for me, some were so-so, and some were great! All the details are below.

I think this look would be great for a family get together.  It would be even better if you paired it with some fancy sweats and comfy shoes.  I would totally wear this with these and would be cozy and cute allllll day!

Also, I practically woke up with this hair 😱 I used the whole pony tail right on top of the head trick last night and woke up with nearly perfect hair from yesterday. I kept in the high pony and covered it with a shower cap for my shower. I retouched 2 curls– two!– and walked out the house.

Face Primer: Smashbox photo finish foundation primer and smashbox photo finish hydrating under eye primer

Concealer: Elf Beautifully Bare Lightweight concealer.  This one was surprising for me.  I actually liked the coverage and it wore nicely throughout the day.

Foundation: Elf BB cream in fair. This one was great for the first few hours, but wore off my skin got oily throughout the day.  If you have drier skin and want a lighter coverage,  you may really like this one!

Contour: NYX 3 steps to sculpt palette

Blush: Elf Blush in Mellow Mauve.  This one is beautiful, but I don’t feel it lasts as long as I wish it would.

Highlight: Elf Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls.  This one is iffy for me.  I think it looked nice on the cheeks when I applied it with my fingers.  With a brush there wasn’t much payoff.

Brows: elf brow pencil and nyx tinted brow mascara in blonde

Eye primer: wet n wild photofocus eyeshadow primer

Mascara: Elf Lash Extending Mascara.  This one is a total no for me. It added no length and no volume, and basically just added a tiny bit of color to my lashes.  I topped it with my favorite L’Oreal lash paradise mascara.

Liner: Elf Satin Eyeliner Pencil in Navy.  I got a few different colors of these, and they are really nice! I wish they had every color of the rainbow, because these are totally worth $1!

Eye Shadows: Elf Mad for Matte Eyeshadow Palette in Summer Breeze.  This palette is fantastic and gorgeous.  If you’re looking for matte shadows to add to your collection, get this one.  It’s amazing and the price tag is even better!

Face spray: Elf Illuminating Mist & Set.  This is a no for me, only because the spray was not gentle enough and was a little too globby.  You know what I mean? No one wants globby setting spray.

Lipstick: Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Lover.
